Looking back at some of my past reads, im re-visiting some of the older sci-fi books in my collection. I think often we have our own favourite authors or genres within our given subject choices. so to re-visit is a good thing, it reaffirms why we got into these authors in the first place – I’ve been back over Alistair Reynolds, the first four Polity books by Neal Asher and now starting over with Iain M Banks Culture series.
Yes heavyweight well know authors all but as they are already ‘known’ to me I can read new books in and around them, get me eh? a bloke multi-tasking, hard to believe I know. But i have hardcopy books (you know the real made with paper things) and then books on my ipad, quite often are random selections or free samples, geared to entice me into buying the full book/ebook/kindle thing. All makes it more interesting dosnt it? plus if you compare them to each other you can determine what sort of writing styles you like, or just how good or bad the new authors book you are reading actually is.
Anyway I will write many more reviews shortly, but things like life/kids/work keep getting in the way, hmm time for another coffee…
what a great idea!
